Dr. Paul P. Appasamy M.S.(Chemical Engg.), M.B.A., Ph.D
Vice Chancellor

Dear Karunya Graduates of 2011!

August 20th, 2011 will be a day to remember for the rest of your lives, since you will receive the long awaited degree certificates from Karunya University. His Excellency, Mr. Stewart Beck, High Commissioner of Canada to India will be the Chief Guest for the Convocation.  The Controller of Examinations, Dr. Joseph Kennady has already given you the detailed guidelines for the Convocation. We have arranged accommodation in the Gents and Ladies Residences for those of you who are arriving with your parents, since the guest house may be heavily booked. Please let us know your plans in advance so that we can prepare accordingly.

Please complete the registration procedures on the 20th morning.  Kindly note that the Thanksgiving Service will not be held on the 20th, but on the 21st morning.  You will be given two guest tickets for lunch and seating during the Convocation.  Please report after lunch at the New Auditorium by 1.30 pm so that you can find the right seats. Your parents will be seated behind you in the main section. Please have proper identification for yourself and for your parents, since we have to follow security procedures for the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

The Convocation will start precisely at 2.00 pm and end by 5.00 p.m.  At the request of many students, our Hon’ble Chancellor has agreed to distribute the degree certificates individually during the Convocation. We have arranged high tea for all of you and your parents in another section of the New Auditorium. The high tea will start soon after the Chief Guest leaves.  Kindly avoid photographs during the function.  If you need overnight accommodation for 19th or 20th, please inform the Controller of Examinations in the response form.  Breakfast will be provided in the residences on both 20th and 21st.

Since 2011 is our Silver Jubilee year, we are inaugurating our Silver Jubilee Celebrations on Sunday, August 21st.  After the morning service when our Hon’ble Chancellor will speak, there will be an Alumni Meet followed by lunch.  2011 graduates are invited to attend the Alumni Meet, when you will be formally inducted as alumni.  The Silver Jubilee inauguration along with SEESHA is planned for the 21st evening when Hon’ble Oscar Fernandes, Member of Parliament will be the Chief Guest.  The University choir will perform during that function.  We will have  2-3 day Silver Jubilee Celebrations in December before we close for the Christmas holidays.

We pray that God will grant us good weather, and that the proceedings will take place smoothly and for His glory. Hope to see you and your parents on August 20th and 21st.

 Best regards,

Paul Appasamy
Vice-Chancellor
